Age-related hearing loss is a widespread public health issue. While many could benefit from hearing aids, only a fraction actually use them. In August 2022, the FDA introduced a final ruling for OTC hearing aids, a more affordable alternative to prescription ones. These devices can be personalized using smartphone apps, catering to users’ unique hearing profiles and communication requirements. Join us for an informative presentation, brought to us in partnership with the UW School of Nursing, to explore the distinctions and parallels between prescription and OTC hearing aids, as well as the technology behind self-directed fitting.
